Mason Road

Remodeling + Addition Project - Ohio

This room used to be a kitchen and sunroom; divided in half by a wall.  We opened up the space to create one large kitchen with two islands.  The sketch below is one of the design drawings completed during the design phase of this project.

This great room used to be wide open to the second floor and had very little carpentry.  We added arches and sconces to accent and privatize the upper floor.  We also added a deep coffered ceiling and extended the carpentry upwards on the fireplace wall.  All of these moves helped to create a cozier atmosphere in this large room.

The same can be said for the main entryway; initially, it did not have a lot of carpentry or space definition.  We added these large corbels and brackets to add detail and warmth to the space.  We also added the arch on the second floor ceiling to add some interest and separation from the foyer.

These sketches were drawn during the design phase to help communicate the design and style intent to the client and contractor.

The outdoor spaces were just as important as the indoor spaces. Organizing the pool and pavilion locations, relative to the home’s indoor living spaces, was of the utmost importance.
