Findlay Farmhouse

New Build - Findlay, Ohio

This house is made from “parts and pieces” of an old family farmhouse on this property. While the original farmhouse needed to comedown, we tried to salvage as much as we could to repurpose the materials.

One of the original concepts we decided on was a breezeway entry that connects the larger house to the garage and utility areas.

These wood beams are from the original structures; still showing their hand-hewn markings. The bricks were made on-site in the 1800’s and even show paw prints! These were carefully removed and reinstalled in a couple of areas in the house.

Like most “modern farmhouses”, we wanted to incorporate some more modern details along with the older materials. We designed the stair to go against the back of the stone fireplace and thought a modern railing would be a nice contrast.

The words “modern farmhouse” can mean so many different things. This house, though, is a true combination of old and new.
