New Build - Bonaparte Lake, New Brunswick, Canada

One of the best things about technology is that I can easily work on projects that are, literally, anywhere. This cabin is tucked in a forest right on Bonaparte Lake in the province of New Brunswick.

We designed a porch that extends almost entirely around the house; a true wrap-around porch with a purpose.  With views in every direction, it was important to utilize as much outdoor space as possible.

The fireplace is the centerpiece of the interior and all of the living spaces are within one large open area. The interior is very rustic; stone, wood, and metal; bringing the outside in.  These clients wanted to keep the house simple in finish and form; beautiful, yet utilitarian.

Some of our earlier design sketches depicted the simple massing, colorful and natural materials, and unique detailing.  The cabin was designed to be respectful to its surroundings and sensitive to the views on the property.

Above are a few different approaches we considered in terms of the views, sunlight, and position on the site.
